Buenos Aires o Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA), tal como figura en su propia Constitución desde 1996,12​ es una ciudad de la República Argentina de gobierno autónomo, es decir, su Gobierno posee facultades propias legislativas y jurisdiccionales,13​ así como facultades judiciales que van siendo asumidas de manera gradual y progresiva.14​15​ Además es uno de los 24 "estados autogobernados"16​ o jurisdicciones de primer orden17​ que conforman Argentina (23 provincias y la CABA) y uno de los 24 distritos electorales legislativos nacionales.
